How many Christians here found Kenneth Russel's film 'The Devils' offensive and why?

Especially if you have seen the full uncut version of the film which includes the sequence with the nuns masturbating with church candles and crucifixes. I dont understand why this offends people. And the film does depict events that occured in history so should it really have been censored?
