What is a good medium sized constrictor?

I'm in college right now to be a veterinary technician, and when I'm done, I'd like to purchase a medium sized constrictor. I'm looking for something between the size of a ball python and a red tailed boa, both of which are possibilities. I would prefer something with a fairly gentle disposition, similar to both of these snakes. Any suggestions??
